How Much Does It Cost?
What is the difference between a gig worker and professional pet care provider?
Professional pet care providers have invested in advanced training like Pet First Aid, CPR, Fear-free certifications, Pet Sitting certifications and so on. Gig workers on the other hand, typically have limited experience managing pets or they may not have any experience at all. Professionals will generally go above and beyond, treating your pets like their own. A gig worker will do just enough to keep your pets alive to ensure that they'll get paid.
Why do professional pet care providers charge more than a pet sitter from the apps?
A professional pet care provider is required by law to carry business insurance. This coverage benefits you in the case of an emergency. Events like, urgent pet transport, property damage at your home, vet visits and more would be insured. If something goes wrong when the cousin of a friend doesn't do their due diligence, your options are quite limited. Professional pet care providers are usually better equipped to handle complex situation due to our expertise, credentials and experience which is another reason why our services cost more.
How do I decide which option is best for me?
Only you can decide what is best for you. Cost is usually one of the biggest determining factors when choosing pet care. You get what you pay for. Unfortunately, choosing the wrong pet sitter can cost 2x or 3x more in vet bills or even worse after everything is said and done. We all have different priorities and variying levels of risk tolerances. I suggest exploring a couple of options and narrowing it down from there to figure out what is best for your pet and your situation.

If your dog has challenges on walks like trouble with wearing equipment, pulling and lunging, reactivity, or is fearful of strangers, I am likely to suggest that you work with a trainer first before hiring a dog walker.
